Susan Zimmerman knows what makes people tick financially. She has studied financial psychology and developed applied therapeutic questioning in the financial planning process for over 30 years to help people thrive, even in times of challenging life transitions. She teaches counseling and application skills to professional advisors that improve the quality and outcomes of the client-advisor relationship.
As a Chartered Financial Consultant licensed in marriage and family therapy (LMFT), Susan researched the psychology of planning advice for her graduate thesis, "American Financial Problems and the Need for Therapeutic Intervention." She developed a personality assessment to help people modify their cognitive habits with money and other issues. Featured in her book, The Power in Your Money Personality, the assessment helps clients talk more openly about money and related issues such as estate planning (see her seminar "Heir Share"), so they can move beyond conflict and take actions to achieve their goals in each unique stage of life.
Susan is a dynamic speaker, known as "the Fiscal Therapist" in her seminars on money personalities. She has been featured on television, radio, and in other media including: The LA Times, Chicago Tribune, Woman's Day, Bankrate.com, Advisor Today, Investment News, Smart Money, First for Women, CBSMarketWatch.com, Woman's World, and Ticker (click on "media excerpts"). She is a member of the National Speakers Association, the Financial Planning Association, and the Minnesota Association for Marriage & Family Therapists.
Susan also teaches professional advisers how to guide people during times of grief, and authored the book, Rays of Hope in Times of Loss. This full-color book is suitable as a gift for people experiencing the death of a loved one or other difficult life transitions. Her books are available on Amazon.com
